Here's a short 3-D animation we created for our illustration of MPEG compression. The art manuscript called for several frames from an animated sequence wherein the background stays the same while something -- in this case, a space ship -- moves across it. The idea is that MPEG compression reduces file size by storing the unchanging background only once every 15 frames.
